Socialisation

There are four socialisation process that help prepare us through the life course. They are:
- Primary socialisation(Family usually)
- Secondary socialisation(Schools, peers and media)
- Anticipatory socialisation(Learning future role)
- Adult socialisation(Getting ready from role-taking to role-making)

There are many agents of socialisation. They are:
- Family
- Peers
- School
- Media
- Religious instituition

Family helps to develop the mechanical and motor skills of the child. Parents usually will enforce good values to their child. They will teach also the basic skills needed by their child to face the outside world. Mechanical skills are skills like eating using fork and spoon, wearing shirt, table ethics and many more physical skills. Motor skills involve the mind. Thinking skills and perceptions towards the society are among the examples of motor skills. In other words, family helps to prepare the child mentally and physically before the child advance into real life.

School is a place where the secondary socialisation will continue. Schools involve socialisation process mostly with peers and teachers. Usually there will be less emotions attached. Schools teach the child of formal education. Here, new knowledge will be attained. Schools will also involve in instilling values that the society perceives as good like punctuality, tolerance and respecting other people especially adults. Here, the child will get more experiences and help to develop their maturity. Their way of thinking will be influenced too.

Friends or peers is another important agent of socialisation. Most of the time, peers are the people of the same age and status. Peers can teach them many things that family cannot. With peers, the child will feel more accepted and therefore the child will be comfortable to spend time with his or her peers. Through peers, they child can learn to mingle around and learn the culture of the friends. However, this stage is very crucial as this stage is the time where most of the bad influences will be imposed. The reason for this is the child can be influenced by his or her peers easily into doing things that is new. This is because of the inquisitive instinct that exists in the child.

Should children be exposed to early socialisation?
My answer is a straightforward yes. This answer will be justified by the following reasons:
- Develop maturity in thoughts
- Avoid future culture shock
- Acquire new knowledge
- Prepare them for the real world
- Nurture good social skills

*However it is better for them to get the guidance of their parents. As I believe that most parents only want the best for their children.

Thank you
One of the population issues is over-population. Discuss the factors that lead to over-population.

There are many factors that may result to overpopulation.

Gender Identity is mostly determined by your society

Gender identity stresses on the characteristics of each gender. As I understand, we should only have two main gender which is male and female. Let's count out any Khunsa because it is not so significant and I don't want to discuss about any. There is this one thing that I observe. It is the theory of the society in terms of gendered identities. In other words, how do the society views each gender differently.

The first thing is regarding the reinforcement. Take example of your parents. It wil be more obvious if you have a combination of males and females siblings. Your parents would practice different reinforcement in terms of rewarding and punishing their children.
As for example, a girl might not receive physical punishment as how a boy would be punished. And the reward system differs too. A boy may be given a ball as a reward while a girl may get a barbie doll.

The second thing is in terms of the division of labour. The responsibilities of each child is different. A boy's responsibility is different from a girl. Let me make it clear for you by providing an example, if there are guests who come to your house, a girl is more expected to prepare and serve drinks. They will not expect a boy to prepare and serve the refreshments though in some cases boys will do it too. (As in my case, because I don't have any girl siblings)

On the other hand, clothing for boys and girls are different too. This is a clear illustration of how the style of dressing differs for both genders. Boys will never wear dress in public(Normal boys I mean). Girls are considered as impolite if they wear shorts and a singlet.

In most family, the bedrooms are gendered too. See for yourself, girls usually use flowers as the main theme of their bedroom. Curtains are pink. Bedsheets too. Why? Because these themes are closely related to girls. Meanwhile, boys don't use flowers nor colourful toys illustrations as their main theme. Some of them don't even have a theme. They just wear what is there for them to wear.

The next different that is quite obvious is the way how your parents treat you. Parents are more likely to get involve in rough games with their boys while girls don't. While a boy will play passing football with his father, a girl will not get involve in such game in most cases. Why? Again because of how the society perceive you. A society doesn't normally see a girl who likes to play football as normal.

The last thing that I want to discuss touches on the types of present that a boy and a girl receive. What will you want as a birthday present if you are a boy? A cute and cuddly teddy bear? What if you are a girl. Would you want a jet plane model as your birthday present? In most instances you don't. Why? Again it is caused by how you believe what is appropriate for you.

That's all. I learn about this from my lecturer and from what I observe, I agree to these points. You are what you are today because of the kind of bringing up that you get. This includes, the view of the society and how it treats you according to your gender.

*Cheers. =)

Dauh bin Kuat Injured Bila Main Rugbi

Believe in what you want to believe.

Have you ever heard of this statement? It's a statement that I'm for and not against to. I consider as right. Whatever the things are, you will see it as what you believe it is. One example is as such:

There is someone whose name is 'Dauh bin Kuat Injured Bila Main Rugbi'. Let's just call him Dauh(Not the real name yeah!) Dauh was given some cash by his parents and he decided to buy a pair of shoes. New shoes. Very pricey. More than a hundred. Then on the evening, he went to play rugby with some of his friends. He won. then he said,"Mestilah menang, kasut baru."
Hence, he believed that his new shoes caused him to win because it gave him the confidence to go the extra mile that he went to win. However, look at it in a different way. Let us say that he losed the match and he said,"I'm still not comfortable with the new shoes. That's why I can't perform." So, now what do you think.

The example might not be so significant. Yet, I suppose that you'll get what I mean?

*Let's discuss.
